Bridges on bridges

Sometimes creativity is doing what is most obvious like bridges on bridges:

And then there's :

Which looks an awful like this gem I recently discovered in the vogue archives at Vogue.com

Back in Orlando but....

Dreary rainy days make me crave the city because as my best friend says a bad day in New York is better than a good day anywhere else. Although Orlando has its perks like living a short drive from the happiest place on earth.

There is something about New York

Although, I have always envisioned myself living in New York because of the fast pace life style, it's possibility for the über glamorous life style, and the fact that it's one if not THE capital of fashion.

After being here for what seems like forever and at the same time not long at all, I've been able to pin point why I prefer Manhattan over a city like Orlando. It is simple everyone in Manhattan is here in pursuit of their dreams. Everyone is ambitious and although they or shall I say we are technically each others competition everyone is willing to help each other out by giving each other the right tools to succeed AND telling them about the mistakes they made so that those who follow wont make the same mistakes. In New York everything is possible, it's just up to the individual to make it happen, it's all about the fight; refusing to give up; dreaming bigger; not taking no for an answer.

New York is the place where you can tell everyone and anyone your dreams and they won't laugh at you or give you the "you're so delusional" look, instead they'll encourage you to dream a little bigger and have faith in yourself even when you are starting to loose hope.

{this blog is dedicated to all of those who have always encouraged me to follow my dreams even when they didn't quite understand them, and those who have, are, and hopefully will continue to encouraged and helped stay on the path of my dreams. Family. Friends. Bosses. Mentors. Those who believe in themselves and have served as role models. Those that never give up. & Rando People who don't even know they helped.}

Hello Sunday

{On my way into the city}

Sundays are a day of rest, but for the city that doesn't sleep Sundays are for exploring or at least that's what I use them for :)

See new places. Experience new things. Taste New Things. Remember different is always good.

Post heat wave Chills

So apparently after a New York heat wave comes a day of what I as a Floridian (76 degrees) think is freezing.

Naturally I wore fur and a nice warm Michael Kors heavy knit because after all I do work for Robin Moraetes and Rachel Zoe

Comme des Punks

Punk might not be typical NdC every day attire, but by definition it definitely fits the Nathaly del Carmen #trèsdifferent life style. Punk was all about self expression and not following the "norm" as it was about being an individual.

so....

Naturally NdC decided to dress PUNK when checking out the Punk Chaos to Couture exhibit at the Met. Experimenting with both the vintage and modern Punk culture  NdC traded in the bright color accessories and printed dresses for a little more rebellious black ensemble.

Punk was defined by an attitude rather than a musical style.

Is it still punk if you asked for permission before hand?

Punk doesn't always mean safety pins and black as we learn from this Givenchy

 No spikes, not all black, but ALL Punk Couture

Exploring the Met beyond the Punk exhibit

Grunge meets homeless chic?

Why blend in when you were born to stand out?

Introduce a little punk in your life, by adding a spike here and there or doing, or doing a colorful smoky eye and some eye liner.

Try something new, something different, by dressing comes des Punks

Summer adventures

Summer advice:
Follow the sun to where ever it leads you
and
Play with color and print

Where ever you go always go to Park Ave

Nathaly does NYC black?

Well to an extent, the del Carmen life style is about being your self even of that means being different from the crowd. NDC is about embracing the different, but also embracing culture. That being said, we all know New York is synonymous with wearing all black -fashion nuns if you will-.

The following are a few looks from interning that are a little more NYC, darker and dare I say black.

I was drawing my inspiration from Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's
{Statement necklace include! ALL of the pearls}

Keeping it neutral in Black&White with a pop lip and a hand beaded african headband

 {Plum maxi dressed purchased in China, and Black Blazer from Banana Republic}

Does this count as black?

Intern in the city

Rachel Zoe once say that style is saying who you are without having to speak. If that's the case then I hope my outfits say " I'm Nathaly del Carmen the style and fashion obsessed intern that is soon to make her mark on New York"

Here are a few of my looks from the past 3 weeks. I must admit some of these are unapologetically Nathaly del Carmen- as colorful as they come.

{Taken in front of Trump Towers after visiting DreamDry for the first time}
 Very NDC

Color blocking is so NDC

Nothing screams Nathaly like pastels and ruffles

Took a few tips from Rachel Zoe's book and accessorized
